    SURNAMEs:  Place all surnames submitted in alphabetical order.
    LOCATION:  Make a separate surname entry for each location.

    1850+       for after 1850
    1850-1865   for dates between 1850 and 1865
    c1850       for about 1850
    pre 1850    for before 1850
    1850s       for dates in the 1850
