The Directory is for members of the Western Australian Genealogical Society Inc. and its Affiliated Societies. (former branches)

Please follow the instructions carefully as failure to do so may result in you having to resubmit your entries.  All entries need to be in the exact layout and upper or lower case as per the example below.



The Members' Interest Directory has two faces with the alphabetical listing and separate web page for each member's research names and contact details.



Country & County Codes are used to abbreviate place names.

  1. Send an email to Directory Compiler Mary Rogers  mwrogers@iinet.net.au
  2. Place WAGS MEMBERS' INTEREST DIRECTORY in your subject line.
     (UPDATE if sending corrections or additions)
  3. YOUR NAME, MEMBERSHIP Number, ADDRESS (STATE/COUNTRY):
    4. This is for our information only, only your name and membership number will be published.
  4. EMAIL ADDRESS: Your email address.
  5. Place SURNAME   COUNTRY   STATE or COUNTY   PLACE   PERIOD   MEMB #
    6. in the body of your email, as instructed below (use TAB for spaces).
    SURNAMEs:  Place all your surnames submitted in alphabetical order and  in upper case
    COUNTRY:  in upper case
    STATE or COUNTY: in upper case
    PLACE:  Town, Village or district
    PERIOD:        Use:  " +   -   c   pre "    as in example:
    1850+       for after 1850
    1850-1865   for dates between 1850 and 1865
    c1850       for about 1850
    pre 1850    for before 1850
    1850s       for dates in the 1850s
  6. AMENDMENTS & CHANGE of ADDRESS must also be made to Directory Compiler.
    place UPDATE in your heading if sending corrections or additions.

  8. MEMBERS' OWN WEB PAGE:   Each member will have their own web page for their contact details and a list of all their submissions. This was introduced to reduce the work involved in producing and maintaining the WAGS Members' Interest Directory. By only having one place to change email addresses etc., the workload is reduced considerably. The advantage to members is that you now have a web page showing all your research surnames to spread word of your interests around the world. Let everyone know by adding a line in your signature when sending emails.
